Kaptivate Celebrates 11 Years as a Communications Leader

NEWS RELEASE

Innovative Firm Uses Uncommon Insight to Guide Broad Array of Clients Through Challenging Terrain and Times

Alexandria, Virginia: Kaptivate® launched its operations during the Great Recession. With hindsight, the financial panic pales in comparison with the current pandemic crisis but the challenge was real. Despite the uphill climb, the boutique communications company, based in Old Town Alexandria, saw opportunity in crisis; specifically, the opportunity to help organizations realign their value proposition to address customers’ new needs.

Kaptivate collaborates with its clients to articulate new direction amidst economic change and a digital transformation of the marketplace. In short, Kaptivate gives voice to vision. Eleven years since its founding, the firm has a national footprint and an extraordinary spectrum of successful engagements including the Defense Acquisition University, the Torpedo Factory Art Center, the Combined Federal Campaign, Visa, and the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Kaptivate’s success mirrors many innovators who see possibility in change. “Part of our motivation in launching Kaptivate was a strong belief that crisis rewards the bold,” remarked Ron Vassallo, Kaptivate’s CEO and co-founder. He continued, “In a crisis’ wake, more agile competitors create new markets and set the terms for the rest.”

Since its start, the strategic communications company, has set its objective as nothing less than demonstrable and measurable impact on the client’s journey. In 2016, that meant partnering with economist Steven Fuller (George Mason University) to study and reset the economic impact of the Torpedo Factory Art Center to City of Alexandria from an assumed contribution of $16 million to a proven contribution of $47 million. “Demonstrating impact is in Kaptivate’s DNA,” comments Otto Orantes, Kaptivate’s Vice President and co-founder. “For the Combined Federal Campaign, the world’s largest workplace fundraising campaign, we’ve introduced several unprecedented initiatives, from marketing analytics to national direct response campaigns, to drive new and measurable stakeholder engagement.”

Kaptivate’s eleventh year has also witnessed expansion of its team of professionals and consequently, a move to a new location in north Old Town Alexandria. The acquisition of new talent, new managers, and expanded facilities marks a new chapter in Kaptivate’s growth and future as an innovator in strategic communications.
