In 2021 the ACCESS BROADBAND ACT established the Office of Internet Connectivity and Growth (OICG) within the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), an agency within the Department of Commerce.

The Act mandates OICG to describe its work over the previous year; the number, and description, of US residents receiving broadband through Federal broadband programs; and an estimate of the economic impact of such broadband deployment efforts. To fulfill this annual requirement in 2022, NTIA awarded Kaptivate a key role in designing, drafting and communicating this much anticipated report.

Kaptivate is collaborating with NTIA to tell the story of federal broadband's impact on an array of economic activity including educational opportunity, small business development, and job creation. Combining available data, data visualizations, and analysis, Kaptivate supports NTIA’s broadband narrative to inform and engage key stakeholders as they weigh the value of the Federal investments. Ron Vassallo, Kaptivate's Chief Executive Officer, celebrated this award by saying, "We're thrilled to launch a new client relationship with the Department of Commerce and also elated to have an opportunity to use our data storytelling superpowers in support of this national initiative." NTIA will submit the Access Broadband Annual Report 2022 to the U.S. Congress by December 27, 2022.
